When we ask graduates what they are looking for from a graduate position, one of the most common responses is training.

If a company offers training to their graduates; it is the best way to attract new employee's as well as retain the current staff.

By offering a graduate training, you are telling them that they are a worthy investment by spending time and money in training for them.  Tom Martin claims that his company's commitment to investing time and money in training for him was an integral part in his decision when accepting the position.  Tom said that he felt the company valued his work within the organisation, as well as encouraging his development and future progression within the company.

Graduates often find that in order to settle in with their company, they need structed training in order to feel more secure.  It has been proven that employers will often not want to hire a graduate because they do not have the necessary skills to begin work.  Therefore, businesses should help them along their way and give them the opportunity to gain experience by providing them with training.

Graduate's who are looking for a graduate position should try and get as much office experience as possible before they start applying for jobs, as extra skills make them more appealing to the employers, as well as easing the transition between student like and a full time career.
