“Our business relies on getting the right people with the right skills to develop new business opportunities for the future. ProGrad’s recruitment process provides us with the skills to support our future business growth. ProGrad have an ability to uncover potential sales people with all the right tools to become sales professionals that we can mould in the shape of QAS. This has proved to be far more successful than recruiting someone with preconceived ideas about sales. Our account manager pays an incredible amount of attention to matching the right type of candidates that will suit the unique culture of our environment. So far, we have seven ProGrad candidates that have come through the process. We have a strong relationship with our account manager which ensures consistency and true understanding of our business objectives.”
- Andrew Smith, Regional Sales Manager, QAS
QAS is a highly successful, growing technology company. Since QAS was founded in 1990, it has become the world-leading supplier of address management solutions with its range of QuickAddress software.
With an increasing demand for its services, QAS wanted to expand its proactive sales force but was looking for a very specific type of individual. As well as having the right attributes to sell in the fast expanding software market, the individual would also need to have an understanding of the business issues facing client organisations. In particular, QAS wanted to home grow their own sales people that didn’t have the bad habits and preconceptions of “experienced sales professionals”. It was decided that recent University graduates presented the best option to fulfil this exacting requirement.
QAS wanted an approach to source quality graduates quickly, without the burdensome administration and organisational overhead associated with traditional recruitment methods. The ProGrad proposition addresses these issues and provides a cost effective method of attracting top quality graduates who are assessed for their competencies within a sales environment.
ProGrad use a refined process to take only the top 4% of graduates, who through training and development, will ultimately become the future managers of the business. In January 2006, two graduates were placed in the Sydney office of QAS. David Chinn and Van Tan were selected at the ProGrad assessment day and proposed quickly for an interview.
Today, Van Tan’s top performance has seen him promoted to an Account Manager role, and David Chinn’s success has provided an opportunity to be transferred to the Singapore office to assist them in a new business drive. There are currently five other graduates within QAS who have been selected through the ProGrad model, each benefiting from the training and development that QAS provide.
"Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it. ProGrad will point you in the right direction towards success, by which I mean placing you with the best Multi-national Organisations."
Van Tan, ProGrad Graduate, QAS
The young, dynamic culture of a technology company like QAS lends itself well to the ProGrad business model, and ensures that there is always a constant stream of intelligent, young, motivated graduates to be groomed into a high profile business to business sales position.
