"Every four months or so I get flown to Sydney for training"

Having finished Uni half way through the year I still hadn’t decided exactly what career path I wanted to take. After searching job ad after job ad I soon found myself running into this “ProGrad” heading at the top of most adverts.
So I sent in a resume in response to a particular ad that seemed to meet my criteria and about a month later I receive a call from Michelle. Michelle begins to tell me a little about ProGrad and how the program worked and after some questioning invites me to attend one of their assessment days. Very excited at the opportunity I read through the days process and I suddenly get very nervous. A three minute presentation on “why I should be selected” to a group of company directors and CEO’s? That put me into panic mode a little bit however I decided to picture things from their perspective and thought they can’t expect too much from us, we’re fresh uni graduates I think it’s best to just focus on my core skills as a person and present it confidently and as fluently as I can.
On the day I was the most nervous I have ever been in my life, I couldn’t even finish a foot long from subway and I eat like a machine. However once you start talking with a few other people when you realise you all feel the same way you relax a little. I was most impressed with the venue, the amount of English accents and how smoothly and professionally the day was run.
We did a series of tests and activities and I was lucky enough to be selected after about five hours of screening.
After this I received a phone call the very next day for an interview early in the next week. I thought that was very prompt and the interview was with Optus Business Direct Northern. ProGrad sent me loads of information about interview techniques, how to answer some difficult questions and preparing a proposal. Michelle who was now my personal account manager was always available, even after hours to answer any questions or queries I had.
I was successful in my interviews, I enjoy what I do and it challenges me all the time. Every four months or so I get flown to Sydney for training which is the best part about ProGrad, you learn and move forward but you have fun whilst doing it. To add to the fun everyone is in sales, so it also great for networking.
So in summary I would suggest you go ahead with the ProGrad assessment process. It really is a great opportunity and someone is always there to help. You just have to show up and be yourself, if you were selected than you should be confident that you have what it takes to make something of yourself and this is the stepping stone where it begins.
