"The exposure I get in my role is second to none."

"Having graduated from The University of Western Sydney with a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) in the summer of 2006 I took some time off to concentrate on what I wanted to do with my career (and to enjoy the uni end of year break).

After careful consideration I decided to embark on a career that would allow me to make the most of my business degree whilst allowing me variation and the ability to make the most of my interpersonal skills. After jumping on Seek.com.au and sending off what seemed like hundreds of resumes I received just one call – from ProGrad (It seems other organisations felt I did not have enough experience).

I had a telephone interview on the spot and was invited along to an assessment day that Thursday. The assessment day itself was daunting but extremely enjoyable. I found that I formed friendships with the other candidates on the day as we shared experiences about our degrees and our job search.

The three minute presentation was definitely the most daunting part of the assessment day, but thanks to some preparation is was not as scary as I thought – three minutes flew by.  After my presentation everyone attending the day was given a presentation on graduate interviews and resumes and how to professionally present ourselves in a corporate environment. For me this was definitely the most beneficial part of the day.

At the end of the assessment day I was ecstatic to find out that I was successful through the process. I was offered an interview with News Digital along with 10 other graduates for their graduate intake program straight away. Everything happened extremely quickly from there – the next day I was called by ProGrad and asked to come in for an interview for a role within their organisation.

I was blown away. I went for the interview and before I knew it I was a graduate manager within the company with three other new recruits. My initial role within ProGrad involved conducting telephone interviews with the 1000 resumes we receive a week as well as running the assessment days. This initial role was challenging but I wanted more and worked hard to ensure that I developed skills that would see me develop in the company.
I am now an account manager at ProGrad, my role involves managing the major existing accounts within ProGrad including Sensis, Reed Business Information, SAGE, Citrix, Eyeblaster and Hasbro. The exposure I get in my role is second to none.

I work with these organisations to help them to organically grow their teams with graduates. It is imperative in my role that I develop strong relationships with both my clients and graduates so that I can find them the perfect candidate/role. The most rewarding part of my job is definitely the feeling of finding a graduate their dream role and then watching them grow along with their training to the point where they are back at an assessment day picking graduates to work underneath them.

I have been with ProGrad for almost two years now and over that time I have developed a strong passion to develop graduates and organisations in unison. That is one thing that really stands out at ProGrad – everyone here has the same vision and goals and we work together to ensure that we achieve it."
