Andrew, Account Manager, MySpace

"What do you have to lose? With any luck you will be having Friday arvo drinks on our balcony within a few weeks!"

Andrew graduated from the College of Fine Arts (COFA) with a bachelor of fine arts in 2008 with work experience in the advertising and creative industry through his degree.  He applied to ProGrad in early March 2008, and following a successful telephone interview, he was swiftly invited to attend one of our assessment days.

He attended our ProGrad assessment day on the 27th March 2008 where he was amongst over 35 candidates selected from a telephone interview.  The assessment day process involved a variety of exercises, including group dynamic exercises and presentations, all assessed by the ProGrad assessment day team.

"It was sink or swim; all eyes were on me… Breaking down to a 3 minute opportunity to make a lasting impression of yourself". Andrew, MySpace

Andrew passed our assessment day with flying colours and was subsequently sent out for an interview with MySpace, part of Fox Interactive Media.  Fox Interactive Media (FIM) is an interactive services company offering popular Internet destinations across social media and high-value content verticals.

"My account manager at ProGrad helped me tailor my skills it was a job that excited me and that I was passionate about… As a result I knew I was prepared and a good fit for the company" Andrew, MySpace

Working at MySpace involves a few key areas of focus for Andrew, such as identifying new business leads, working on key business development projects, and preparing key sales presentations.  Working in the sales team, Andrew also attends sales appointments, responds to advertising briefs and manages sales inquiries.  He is part of a dynamic media sales team, which rewards and recognizes top performance.

When asked about his experience attending the ProGrad training courses, Andrew said that the training is delivered in a very practical sense; he gets to interact and network with people from other industries.

"I am able to learn and share hints and tips from others on sales and how to deal with the day to day business world". Andrew, MySpace

The final question Andrew was asked was 'What advice would you give other graduates who are thinking of applying to ProGrad'. He replied with a rhetorical question -

"What do you have to lose? With any luck you will be having Friday arvo drinks on our balcony within a few weeks!"
